American Academy of Physician Assistants

AAPA

The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) is a national professional society that represents the interests of approximately 60,000 clinically practicing physician assistants (PAs).  AAPA is the only national professional society to represent all physician assistants in all medical and surgical specialties and all practice settings.

Founded in 1968, the academy has a federated structure of 57 chartered chapters representing PAs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and the federal services. The AAPA pursues these goals through government relations and public education programs, research and data collection efforts, and continuing education activities.

The mission of AAPA is to position PAs as worldwide leaders who are vital to providing and improving medical care for all people.
